Today is supposed to be Trivial Pursuit Tuesday, but I'm just not in the mood.
I could have seen Jeff Corwin today, as part of a free lecture series at my university. Alas, I had class during the same time. I was a bit bummed. I doubly-extra couldn't go, because I had a scheduled appointment with my professor before class to talk about my missing class for my grandma's funeral.
My appointment was absolutely wonderful. I left my professor's office thinking "me amo Dr. Kwon." She was so encouraging, helpful, empathetic.
I had some time to grab a cappuccino before class actually began, and I took advantage of it.
When I got to class, my professor announced that one of our graduate assistants died in a car accident on her way to her internship this morning.
And then, after learning about that, we had a moment of silence. Two women sitting near me spoke to each other in the middle of it. I was sick about that. It was hard to focus on anything during class.
This graduate assistant made an impression on me earlier this year as a classmate; she was really funny! And so passionate about reading.
These are the way things go.

Sorry about your friend dying. Cars can be nasty.
Yes, brick painting is painting bricks. Mine is nifty.
And thanks for the applause, I could hear it from here.
I have a suggestion for Trivial Pursuit Tuesday's question:
In what year was the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo signed?
feel free to answer it... or don't. I like traditions.

Meghan. You are such a doll.
My guess...1829? (That's just the first thing that came to my mind).
You should take a picture of your brick and post it - I'm curious now.
my best friend in middle school used to paint rocks. they were beautiful.
*sigh* life is strange when it sideswipes you. you're never ready for it. *hug* (unless you have a territorial bubble, of course.)
Kimberlina: Thanks for the *hug* -I do love hugs.
Speaking of painting rocks and bricks, I painted a hiking stick (all shades Dr. Seuss) when I was in the 8th grade. It was rad, no doubt.
Sorry about your friend. It is always shocking when someone dies suddenly.
Hugs and Bananas,
Monkey
Monkey, thank you for the hugs and bananas.
Also, what the heck? When was the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo signed?!
sorry! the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo was signed in 1848. My junior year history teacher pounded that one into my head.
If I can get my roomie to let me use her camera, i'll definitely take a photo of my brick. it rocks.
