"Your teeth are so nice. There is something stuck between the front two."
I'm very bad at giving compliments. That's not to say I have poor social graces, and that I say all the wrong things at the wrong time, it just means I think compliments in my head, but I rarely verbalize them. Not because I'm above complimenting people; rather, it's just the opposite...Or some kind of opposite: I forget to open my mouth, or I assume that I've complimented someone with actions (smiles) rather than words, and they should totally get what I'm thinking because of my actions. But unfortunately, people don't read minds (Just yet. Considering it is 2005 and everything, shouldn't we sort of have that ability, at least in the works?). So, I'm going to practice the art of the compliment tomorrow at work. There is a staff breakfast to kick off the new school year and before we get too involved with stuffing our faces with bad, bad continental breakfast-type foods (orange honeydew and green cantaloupes), I'm going to deliver a sincere compliment to someone I don't know. Beyond "wow, I love your shoes." I will report compliment and reply tomorrow. Whoa, the pressure is on.
