I have started posting so many times!  I never get far – I’m wondering if I’ll even finish here.  Motherhood is my new gig and peeps, I’m in love with the new job.  George is almost two weeks old and for the life of me, I cannot remember so much what life was like without him in it.

The wonderful thing about nursing is that it’s a whole lotta quiet time.  I’ve been reading quite a bit (will return to Anna Karenina at a later date) and have (almost) finished two books.

First, there was Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (Berendt, 1994); I only wish I had read it before we went to Savannah in April.  But I know we’ll get there again and it’s not the kind of book that soon leaves you.  And now I’m almost finished with The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (Diaz, 2007) which I’m loving.  I had started it twice before and never made it far but when I pulled it off my shelf (the one that’s next to me in the photo above) I was determined to make it past my previous two stopping points.  I did so easily and am now doing that lingering thing where I read slowly to put off the ending because it is that good.

Now, aside from that, there’s a lot to do around the hizzy.  I’m talking thank-you notes, general cleaning, etc.  So to sit here and write any further just seems like cheating.

Oh, but: I call George Birdy because he squawks!  Like a little bird.

I have read some Diaz short stories and thought they were a little to violent to enjoy. Is that not the case with the novel?
