Almost three months ago to the day, on the Lunar New Year, a favorite patron of mine noticed I was expecting; I'd recently found out I was having a George instead of an Ann. She told me that this is the Year of the Tiger, and that boys born in the Year of the Tiger are strong leaders. She said some other things, too, that made my heart swell with pride. I knew George was a little leader already – just by carrying him around I'm somehow a smidgeon more assertive than ever (maybe since I have five chins I feel I have more weight to pull). I wrote down what she said in my little calendar. She comes now to the new library I'm at and asked about my due date: one month from today. I have to be prepared for him to come, she said, at least two weeks early. He's going to be big. And she would know: she has three boys of her own. For every lunatic library patron, I swear there are really 17 more good ones and then 1 really great one. She is the great one.

BTW - LK and I are hoping he's late so that he comes closer to our birthdays.
Madge, my dad was born in the Year of the Tiger... he's a James... and he's a born leader... George is going to be all sorts of awesome. Can't wait.
