When I woke up this morning, I noticed something was a little bit off in the living room. The curtain was blowing out one window into the yard, instead of into the house.
My heart did a dip. The kitty-cats (D. Sergei and Jane) had knocked out the screen. They were nowhere to be found.
I started yelling their names as I was getting dressed into my search & rescue clothes.
It didn't take long for me to hear Jane - she came running to my frantic calls and skidded at my feet. I scooped her up, gave her a hug - noticed all of the grass burrs on her belly (she had definitely been outside!), and locked her in the bathroom until I found D. Sergei.
Knowing how much D. Sergei loves his treats, I just started to shake the treat bag while calling his name. It's like the dog whistle only not. I went out to the side of the house where the window screen was bent and clawed into the yard and there was my D. Sergei, on the window ledge, expecting his treats!
I shoved him inside, closed the window from outside the house, and I think I fainted.
No, I didn't faint. But I was so nervous and scared that I would never see my kitty-cats again! What little adventurous misfits! I have no idea how long they were out there - an hour? Two? Gulp.

eek eek!!
i am so glad you found them. waking up to kittens out of the house is a horrific feeling. happened to me once as well, except we just hadn't closed and locked the door very well and when we woke up, it was half open! ugh.
cats are way too clever, methinks, for the own good.
To thihnk your cats were out and within reach of that horrifying iguana!
So-so Def, the cat Gabe and I had, once knocked out the screen and got out. Only, she was deaf, and there is nothing scarier than the idea of your deaf cat out amongst cars. Two, she fell out of the second story window of our apartment and was outside for at least four hours. When we found her under the bushes in front of the apartment she put up no fight, and then hid in the bathroom for the rest of the night.
Sneaky! Luckily my Jane has no interest whatsoever in going outside. After all, it's dirty outside, and she doesn't want her little white paws getting dirty!
This was very upsetting. I think I need another drink to calm my nerves.
The two sound like a turtle I once knew... :(
da keeties!! oh noes!
i'm glad they're alright. i know how alarming it is to find pets missing...

ps. i want another frog.... at least they can't get away! mwahahha
Oh my god! I'm so glad you found them. Kitties don't belong in the jungle that is your backyard.
Oooooh.. I know that feeling. My cat Salem used to be a real outdoor cat, catching little prey and one day he never came back.
Best to keep a good eye on your kitties since thers is huge monitor lizard living close to your backyard.
Poor you! I know that feeling. My dog runs out the door every chance he can-I once waded through thigh-high floodwater screaming his name in the middle of a damn Cat3 hurricane because he figured out how to escape from the backdoor. I saw him an hour after I gave up, swimming- without a care in the world-mind you, in the canal behind our house.
Oh noooooo! Not funny! not funny!
