Outrageous? Nah...in fact, this product is so kid-friendly that:
Can you really spray this around kids?
Yes. It's that gentle. Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ daily sanitizing spray has been specially developed to be strong enough to kill 99.9% of bacteria yet remain gentle enough to spray on surfaces around kids, pets and food, making it possible to incorporate sanitizing into your daily activities.
Can I really use this on pacifiers and baby bottles?
Yes. Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ daily sanitizing spray is so gentle that you can use it to kill harmful bacteria even on items that your children frequently come into contact with. However:
Can you ingest Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ daily sanitizing spray directly?
Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ spray should not be ingested, but it is gentle enough to be used on food-contact surfaces without rinsing or wiping after spraying.
Can I spray Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ daily sanitizing spray directly on food?
Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ spray is not approved to spray directly on food. Use freely on food contact surfaces, including plastic cutting boards, serving trays, knives and plastic containers. And, for the record:
What is in Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ daily sanitizing spray?
Hmmmm.Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ spray starts with very pure water and pure refined bleach. The product is then pH balanced for maximum stability.
The concentration of sodium hypochlorite in Clorox® Anywhere Hard Surface™ spray is 0.0095%. This is significantly lower than the sodium hypochlorite level of 6.0% in many common household bleach. The result is a product that is gentle as water, but strong enough to kill 99.9% of bacteria on hard, non-porous surfaces. This means it is gentle enough to use around kids, pets and food.
This just seems a little bit fucked up to me. If sodium hypochlorite were so tremendously friendly, why would the CDC have such extensive medical management guidelines? Yes, there is a small amount of sodium hypochlorite in this daily sanitizing spray, but little by little and bit by bit, it adds up - especially if you're sitting in your highchair, with your little baby lungs, inhaling this crap after every spoon fed meal. Yucky.
I would love to suggest some alternatives:
- Seventh Generation products: zero sodium hypochlorite cleaning products. Read about their stance on Indoor Air & Chlorine, as a household hazard.
- Vinegar and water. Vinegar naturally disinfects - I have used it and baking soda as the only two cleaning agents in my home for the past two years - it works! Zero E. coli hospitalizations, zero salmonella hospitalizations -- come to think of it, zero hospitalizations for anything!
- Check out the Chlorine Free Products Association - as they say, "chlorine bleaches out life."
Soapbox down!

and really, you wonder why people are having more and more asthma problems and issues w/ allergies. it's because we try to completely sanitize the world we live in, but the truth is, if we don't build up our immune systems, say, when we're BABIES, we won't ever be able to survive.
lawdy, i hate all these crazy big companies and these weird notions of clean! argh.
kim votes for the environment!
I know! You'd think it was a miracle that the human race has survived for as long as it has without hand sanitizer and bleach! I'm so weirded out by the current obsession with fucking sterilizing every surface your child ever comes in contact with.
You know what? My kid eats dirt. Like, every day. She puts all manner of disgusting things in her mouth, both inside and outside of my home, which, frankly, is usually pretty filthy. And she's almost never sick. She's had maybe three colds in her entire two and a half years of life, and has never had a fever above 100 degrees. She's had a stomach flu once, and it was over within 24 hours. No ear infections, no allergies, no asthma. Nothing. She's one of the healthiest kids I know.
Suck on that, Clorox!
dear god. that's horrific. i'm glad i don't have a baby around when i'm spraying cleaner.
actually, i'm glad i don't have a baby period. can you imagine how fucked up it would be if i was trying to raise it in this point in my life?
that kid would have some issues....

i'm not using that shit. it's so fucking overrated...'we all have to be so germ fucking free!'
meanwhile, our ecology grows dirtier. what the fuck is up with that?
screw it. i'm pulling out the vinegar...good cure for heartburn, too.
i like to drink vinegar.
I'm with you. I used only home made or seventh generation cleaning products in our house in Dallas from the very beginning. I was so proud of it. It used to infuriate me when Gabe decided to clean because he would dig way back to the back of the cabinets to find the clorox clean-up I had hidden from him (because it isn't something you can just toss in the trash can) and bleach our house to bits. It never would have worked out. He just couldn't handle my minty vinegar window cleaner.
