The Duck Motif Demystified
On more than one occasion, I have been asked what the Duck Motif is. Now that I have a scanner, a fabulous scanner, I am able to let you discover why I chose the "duck motif" as the name for my blog. Sidebar (remember Ally McBeal?): I went to this university for my undergrad - whose mascot happens to be the duck (and by the way, our football team is kicking arse this season, so...go Ducks), but that is pure coincidence. I really have nothing for ducks, aside from this satirical explanation of why you and I should have decked our homes in ducks in the 1980s. But, I have been thinking...I love birds in art. I am not a birder(!), but...I do love a good bird illustration. Okay. Am I making sense? No. Is the chardonnay? Hmmm...

I keep thinking you're going to change it to "The Flamingo Motif," given the new picture.
where the heck are duck belts nowadays, i'd like to ask!
also, "tureen" - damn, what a good word.
Just so you know, I discovered tonight that ants with yellow butts like to build colonies in scanners SO BE AWARE!
nice... i think one of my parents had a duck planter when i was a kid... wow.
i wish i had an entertaining explanation for the name of my blog, but i named it so long ago i don't know what i was thinking.
yellow-butted ants, eh? good to know... those sound nasty.

nkyvclu- every worthless college combined into the new SUPER-useless school. the most popular majors? P.E., Philosophy, and Panty Raiding. sorry if i offended anybody, i'm tired.
I wish I read this before I linked you. I shouldn't have said "chick that's into ducks" I guess.
holy hell - yellow butted ants?
::checks scanner::
Cheryl - I sometimes think about using a duck avatar, though I just haven't found one I like.
Kimberlina - Duck belts + tureens = hot, hot things.
Annie - I discovered yellow butt ants like the sticky part of my cardboard toilet paper roll, just now, as I walked in the door. I'll try to keep them away from my scanner.
Meghan - Duck planter!! Woot! The Duck Motif is on the endangered motif list. Also, do you remember the goose motif of the 80's? Huge. We're talking HUGE. Except it wasn't exactly preppy. It was like the motif for the masses, a la the official proletariat handbook. Wow. I would so love to write that one up.
Calzone...hmmm, I suppose you could get creative with vowels.
Kimberlina - viva la ghost ant!
whaaaaaaaaa! please tell me you were kidding about yellow butted ants in your toilet paper roll.
and it's funny - i actually almost became a librarian. wanna know what scared me off? the gre. sad, eh? math, esp logical math, is not my forte. i asked the peeps at usf is they would accept instead the mat, but to no avail. pharmacy it became.
